正祖의 『經史講義』를 통해 본 春秋學의 핵심 쟁점 ─『經史講義』, 「總經 1: 『春秋』」를 중심으로─

본 논문은 正祖의 『經史講義』에 수록된 『春秋』 관련 자료의 분석을 통해 춘추학의 핵심 쟁점에 대한 正祖의 관점과 『춘추』 접근법의 특징을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 자료는 정조의 질문과 학자들의 답변으로 구성되어 있는데, 정조의 단순한 학문적 흥미나 일시적 의문에 의한 것이 아니라, 『춘추』에 대한 사전 연구를 바탕으로 춘추학의 주요 쟁점이 되는 문제를 정확하게 파악하여 날카롭게 질문한 것이다. 본 논문에서는 1793년의 10조목 중에서 『춘추』 기록의 형성 배경이나 기록 방법 등 春秋學의 쟁점을 다룬 네 조목을 집중적으로 분석하였다. 정조는 질문의 과정에서 먼저 기존의 다양한 이론들을 종합적으로 고찰하고, 각 이론의 옳고 그름에 대한 자신의 견해를 피력했다. 그런 다음 자신이 주장하는 이론의 논거를 제시하면서 그 주장의 타당성을 묻는 형식으로 문답을 진행했다. 이 자료를 통해 철저한 분석과 연구에 토대를 둔 정조의 학문 방법은 물론, 『춘추』에 대한 정조의 학문적 깊이를 확인할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This thesis intends to clarify the King Jeongjo's way of understanding and characteristics of his academic methodology on 『Chunqiu』 through analyzing material related to 『Chunqiu』 which is included in 『Gyeongsagangui』 by King Jeongjo. This material consists of King Jeongjo's questions and answers by those who were in civil service and it is not originated from King Jeongjo's simple academic interests or temporary doubts but it is characterized as a symposium thoroughly prepared in advance. Among ten articles in 1793, this thesis intensively analyzes the four, major issues of Chunqiuxue, including the system and documentation method of 『Chunqiu』, the guiding principle in writing annals, etc. Based on rigorous analyses on Chunqiu, King Jeongjo understood the exact key issues in Chunqiuxue and comprehensively examined existing theories and then tried to draw the most reasonable theory. Through this procedure, King Jeongjo's academic inclination and depth on 『Chunqiu』 can be observed and characteristics and flow of Chunqiuxue in Joseon Dynasty overall can also be understood.
