Abstract
Teacher education reform in America and UKHwang Gyu-Ho(Ewha Womans University)In this paper, I review recent trends and issues in teacher education reform in America and UK. The documents that I examined are mainly government proposals and plans for teacher education reform, and I sumarized the comon general features of the trends in two countries. They are: (1) comon concerns for improving teacher quality, and use of empirical study results in policy making, (2) restructuring of teacher education program and institutions, and introduction of alternative teacher training program, (3) development and modification of national teacher qualification standards, and strengthening the inspection and
