인성교육의 다른 길-그 길 위에서의 모성과 교사 권위의 통합

Abstract

This article is a searching for the new form of Character Education. It sees the main cause of the contemporary Korean society's turmoil and educational crisis in the dissolution of all the sorts of public authorities. In order to improve the situation, Korean government has produced Character Education Promotion Law. It hopes that it will bring the progress in the building of student's ethical abilities and the humane atmosphere in the classroom. However, it is already shown that the law increases only the burden of student's intellectual learning, and so, Character Education is nowadays running the risk to become another sort of intellectual learning. This study sees the possible way of overcoming that risk in Confucian way of learning which lays great emphasis on synthesizing all the sorts of human abilities, namely, mind, character and spirituality. This study recognizes Confucian learning as one sort of lay religiosity, a spiritual learning to become a genuine person. This way of learning stresses the role of motherhood in the sane building of intellectual power. It sees that the motherhood lays the fundament of it, while school teacher's authority can lead students to getting humane ethical characters. This study acknowledges the great value of Korean traditional Seodang and Seowon(Private Academy) education in promoting Korean Character Education.
