본 연구는 초등학교 경제‧금융교육에 생성형 AI를 활용한 수업을 개발‧적용하고, 경제교육 및 사회과교육에서 생성형 AI의 활용 가능성을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 소득, 저축, 투자 영역을 중심으로 총 8차시의 경제‧금융교육 수업 사례를 개발한 후, 초등학교 6학년을 대상으로 수업에 적용하였다. 연구 결과, 생성형 AI는 AI 기반 학습환경에서 다음과 같이 세 가지 주요 기능을 수행할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 첫째, 생성형 AI는 추상적인 경제 개념이나 용어를 학습자의 발달 수준에 맞게 설명하고 검색 도구로 활용되어 학생들의 학습을 촉진하였다. 둘째, 생성형 AI는 의사결정 학습에서 제3의 참여자로서 의견을 제공하여 학생들이 다양한 대안을 비교, 평가할 수 있도록 지원하는 의사결정의 보조 도구로 기능하였다. 셋째, 역할놀이 활동에서 생성형 AI가 대화형 시나리오를 제공함으로써 학생이 학습한 경제 개념을 실제와 유사한 맥락에 적용할 수 있도록 도왔다. 본 연구는 생성형 AI를 활용한 경제‧금융교육 수업을 개발하고 실제 적용 사례를 제시하여 향후 생성형 AI를 활용한 교수‧학습 설계 및 교과 특성에 적합한 활용 방안을 탐색하며, 디지털 경제시민성 함양을 위한 생성형 AI 활용 교수‧학습 설계의 기반을 마련하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to develop and implement a generative AI-integrated instructional model for elementary economic and financial education and to explore its pedagogical potential within economics and social studies education. An eight-lesson instructional unit focusing on income, saving, and investment was designed and implemented with sixth-grade students. Drawing on qualitative analysis of classroom applications, the findings reveal three primary functions of generative AI in AI-enhanced learning environments. First, generative AI supported students’ understanding by providing developmentally appropriate explanations of abstract economic concepts and terminology, thereby facilitating learning. Second, it served as a decision-making support tool by offering alternative perspectives, enabling students to compare and evaluate multiple options. Third, in role-playing activities, generative AI generated dialogic scenarios that allowed students to apply economic concepts in realistic, simulated contexts. By presenting a case of lesson design and classroom implementation, this study offers insights into how generative AI can be integrated into subject-specific instruction and lays a foundation for instructional design aimed at fostering digital economic citizenship.
