지리정보시스템을 활용한 지역정보분석 사례연구: 대선투표 공간자기상관성 분석

초록

본 연구는 동아일보가 제공하는 대통령선거 GIS(지리정보시스템) 데이터베이스를 이용하여 공간적 혹은 지리적 측면에서 선거를 분석하고 특별히 지역주의 투표활동의 공간자기상관성분석을 통해 공간적 관계와 영향요소를 분석하였다. 분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우리나라 대통령선거에 있어서 공간자기상관은 매우 높은 상황인데 이는 지역주의 투표경향이 통계학적으로 확인된 것이다. 특별히 15대와 17대 대통령선거에서의 공간적 군집화가 16대 대통령선거에 비해서 강했음을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 15대와 16대 대선에서 거의 유사한 다소 진보적인 투표성향을 보이던 서울, 경기, 인천, 대전, 충북, 충남이 17대 대선에서는 상대적으로 보수적인 투표성향으로 돌아서면서 이명박 후보를 당선시키는데 중요한 역할을 했다고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 시군구 수준에서의 분석을 보면 15대, 16대, 17대 대통령선거를 통해서 Moran I 값이 0.25 -> 0.23 -> 0.26으로 변화 됨을 볼 수 있다. 이는 상대적 측면에서 노무현 대통령이 김대중 대통령이나 이명박 대통령에 비해서 지역적 기반에 덜 의존해서 당선됨을 의미한다. 마지막으로 공간적으로 주변 지역에 영향력을 주는 지역적 거점보다는 광역행정구역에서 유사경향으로 설명할 수 있으며 충청남도와 충청북도가 지난 3번의 대통령선거에서 그 변화성이 가장 많이 나타난다고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

This study analyzes a spatial aspect of presidetial election such as spatial autocorrelation using presidential election geographical information system that Donga Ilbo provides. I have four outcomes from the study. First, there have been high spatial autocorrelation numbers in recent three presidential elections in Korea, which represents a strong bias exists in voting activity in Korea. Especially 15th and 17th presidential elections demonstrate stronger spatial clusturing compared to 16th. Second, major metropolitans and provinces turn from progressive trend to conservative in 17th, which signicantly contributes president Lee's victory in the election. Third, Moran I Index changes 0.25(15th) -> 0.23(16th) -> 0.26(17th) which means that president Roh's victory depends less on locality in comparison to president Kim and president Lee. Fourth, Chungchung provinces shows most changeable trend for the last three presidental elections.
