남성적 규범과 아버지 신념에 따른 30, 40대 아버지의 잠재 프로파일 분석

초록

본 연구에서는 영유아 자녀가 있는 아버지들이 남성규범과 새로운 아버지 신념을 기반으로 몇 개의 잠재 프로파일로 구분되는지 확인하고, 프로파일에 따라 어머니 문지기 역할과 아버지의 양육참여에서 유의한 차이가 있는지 검증하였다. 본 연구를 위해 만 6세 이하 자녀가 한 명 이상 있는 30, 40대 기혼 남성 228명이 분석에 참여하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 4개의 잠재 프로파일로 구분되었다. 둘째, 분류 변인의 특성에 따라 ‘적극적 아버지형’, ‘소극적 아버지형’, ‘힘있는 가부장형’, ‘무심한 가부장형’으로 명명하였다. 셋째, 가족부양자와 새로운 아버지 신념이 높고 힘과 통제가 낮은 ‘적극적 아버지형’이 양육참여가 가장 높았고, 어머니 문열기가 높고 어머니 문닫기가 낮았다. 본 연구의 결과는 남성성과 아버지 신념에 따른 아버지의 양육참여와 어머니 문지기 역할을 통해 아버지 양육이 어떤 양상으로 나타나는지에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공한다. 마지막으로 연구 결과에 따른 상담 및 심리치료적 개입과 연구의 한계점, 시사점 그리고 후속 연구 방향에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to identify latent classes among Korean fathers with children under the age of 6, based on 5 subscales of Korean Conformity to Masculine Norms (family support, male leadership, power and control, job independence, and emotion suppression), and new fatherhood beliefs. Additionally, the differences between mothers’ gate-keeping and father’s involvement in child-care were explored in each of the classified groups. The analysis identified four latent classes: Active Father, Transient Father, Domineering Father, and Neglectful Father. Those classified as Active Father who accounted for 42.1% of participants, scored highest on family support and new fatherhood beliefs, but lowest on power and control. This group was higher than any other latent class in terms of father’s involvement. Based on the findings, implications for therapeutic and educational interventions are discussed, and recommendations for future research are presented.
