중급상담자의 실제관계 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

본 연구는 중급상담자들이 상담 장면에서 실제관계(real relationship)를 어떻게 경험하는지 알아보고, 그 경험의 의미와 본질은 무엇인지 심층적으로 이해하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구 대상은 상담관련 전공 석사 졸업 이상, 상담 경력 4~9년 이하인 중급상담자 9명으로 진행하였다. 자료의 분석은 체험을 있는 그대로 이해하는 데 효과적인 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법을 적용하였다. 연구 결과 5개의 핵심주제와 13개의 본질적 주제, 34개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 핵심주제는 ‘관계 그 이상의 가치’, ‘있는 모습 그대로 함께 나아감’, ‘조절과 조율의 과정’, ‘너와 내가 깊이 닿는 경험’, ‘장인이 되기 위한 고단한 여정’이었다. 연구에 참여한 중급상담자들의 실제관계는 상담자가 있는 그대로의 모습으로 내담자를 만날 때 효과적으로 발현되며, 내담자들과 동등한 관계를 맺으며 깊은 연결감을 경험하고, 조절과 조율이 필요한 역동적 관계로 나타났다. 아울러 중급상담자들은 많은 시행착오를 겪으며 성장을 향하여 부단히 애쓰는 태도를 보였다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 실제관계 경험에 대한 이해의 확장, 상담자 교육과 수퍼비전 실제를 위한 기초 자료 제공에 대한 시사점 및 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore how intermediate counselors experience real relationships in the counseling setting and to deeply understand the meaning and essence of these experiences. The participants included nine intermediate counselors with a master’s degree or higher and 4 to 9 years of counseling experience. Data analysis applied Giorgi’s phenomenological research method, which is effective in understanding experiences as they are. The study identified five core themes, 13 essential themes, and 34 sub-themes. The five core themes were: ‘value beyond relationship,’ ‘going forward together as they are,’ ‘the process of control and coordination,’ ‘the experience that you and I deeply touch,’ and ‘the difficult journey to become a craftsman.’ Based on the research findings, implications for expanding the understanding of real relationship experiences, providing foundational data for counselor education and supervision practice, and suggestions for further research were discussed.
