八卦取象說과 周易 성격의 전환 —『계사전』과『설괘전』의 해석을 중심으로 —

『주역』이 점치는 책에서 철학적인 책으로 변신할 수 있었던 원인은 무엇인가? 다시 말하면 어떤 요소들이 『주역』을 점서에서 철학적인 책으로 변신시켰는가의 문제이다. 이 문제에 대한 다양한 관점들이 있을 수 있겠지만, 본 논문은 8괘취상설이 『주역』이 점서에서 철학서로 성격 전환을 하게 되는 상황에서 분명히 중요한 역할을 하고 있다는 관점에서 출발하고 있다. 『주역』을 철학적인 것으로 가능하게 만든 8괘 취상의 관점 변화를 가장 분명하게 보여 주고 있는 부분이 바로 「설괘전」이다. 「설괘전」은 모두 18장으로 구성되어 있는데, 철학적인 취상을 말하는 부분은 주로 3장에서 10장 사이에 보인다. 그러나 11장 이후 뒤로 갈수록 거의 체계를 갖추지 못한 임의적(任意的)인 상들이 나열되고 있다. 「설괘전」의 이론적 발전 단계의 순서는 앞에서 뒤로가 아니라, 뒤에서 앞으로의 순서로 되어 있다. 그러나 만약 8괘가 단순한 점서를 위한 사물의 취상에서 방향을 바꾸어 우주의 모든 사물이나 사태를 전체적 관점에서 설명하려는 방향으로 나아가게 될 때, 8괘 취상설은 우주 전체를 설명하는 하나의 철학적인 해석 체계로 변하게 된다. 여기에서 『주역』은 더 이상 점치는 책이 아니라, 사람들로 하여금 세계의 이치를 궁구하고, 자신에게 주어진 성명의 이치를 온전히 실현하도록 만드는 철학서의 지위를 가지게 되는 것이다.
Abstract
What is the reason why Yijing(Book of changes)was changed from a fortune-telling book to a philosophical book? Namely, What factors made Yijing to change from a fortune-telling book to a philosophical book? Although, there can be various viewpoints on this issue, this paper is based on the viewpoint that theory of diversely symbolizing through eight trigrams played a pivotal role in changing Yijing from a fortune-telling book to a philosophical book. The part most clearly showing the viewpoint change in 8 trigrams enabling Yijing to be a philosophic thing is the Shuogua(Discussion of the Trigrams). The Shuogua consists of 18 chapters, and the part addressing the acquisition of philosophical symbols appears to be from chapter 3 to chapter 10. However, random images not hardly equipped with a system are enumerated after chapter 11. The theoretic development stage sequence of Shuogua is back to front, not front to back. However, if 8 trigrams are indicated into a direction to explain all objects or situations from a total viewpoint by changing its direction to acquire the symbols of objects in the universe to just tell person's fortune, the Shuogua is modified to a philosophical interpretation system explaining the entire universe. Here, Yijing can have the status as a philosophical book, through which people thoroughly investigate the logic of the world and fully realize the logic of life given to each person.
