이 글은 김인후의 문집에 남은 시문을 통해서 추론될 수 있는 내용에 토대를 두고, 그의 성리철학설과, 異端·異說 비판을 살피고 있다. 전자는 理氣說, 四端七情說, 그리고 誠敬說로 구성되어 있는데, 그는 이기설에 관해서 주자의 설을 충실히 따르면서 主理論的 立場을 취했다. 또한 七情은 모두 惡하다고 보아서, 李恒과 함께 奇大升에 영향을 주었을 것으로 생각된다. 사람에게 天道인 誠이 사람에게 깃들어 있어, 사람이 제각기 敬함으로써 天과 合一하는 경지에 이를 수 있다고 보는 誠敬說을 폈다. 김인후는 자신의 성리철학을 바탕으로 삼아, 佛敎, 道敎, 諸子百家 등 程朱의 說 바깥의 異端에 대해 비판하고, 또한 徐敬德, 李恒, 盧守愼 등의 程朱學 내의 異說에 대해 비판하고 있다. 김인후는 조선 중기의 성리철학자로서 상당히 중요한 위치에 있었고 많은 詩文 등을 남겼으며, 그런 만큼 후세에 미친 영향도 꽤 컸던 것으로 생각된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 성리철학에 관한 연구는 지금까지 몇 편의 논문이 있을 뿐이다. 앞으로 그의 성리철학은 물론 그의 학문과 인물 등에 관하여 더욱 깊이 있는 연구가 요청된다고 하겠다.
Abstract
In this article, In-Hoo Kim's philosophy of SungLi(性理, human nature and natural laws) will be expound. The main components of Kim's neo-confusianism is LiGi(理氣) theory, SaChil(四端七情) theory, and SungGyeong(誠敬) theory. He followed Chu Hsi's central part of philosophy of SungLi. Also, his critical view about other schools and different theory in neo-confucianism will be considered. He was severe critics about Buddhism and Taoism. Since there are rare manuscripts which have been written in professional style, some poetry and prose in his collection of works will play an important role. In-Hoo Kim lived in the middle period of Chosun Dynasty and played an important part in the philosophy of SungLi. Therefore, it is a plain fact that his ideas had a great influence on future generations. Nevertheless, his studies on SungLi are only quite a few. From now on, it will be necessary to study not only on his philosophy of SungLi but also on his character and academic world.
