一두 鄭汝昌의 生涯와 學問歷程­諸家記述을 중심으로

Abstract

There are men of letters who represented a historical period and have been frequently quoted in the history of Korean Confucianism. Among them, Goengpil Gim(Hanwhondang) and Yeochang Jeong(Ildu) were disciples of one master and have been evaluated as men of both sincere studies and faithful practice. Inheriting the traditions of Korean Dohak(ethics), they were Confucian scholars who opened the stream of Neo confucianism, which flourished after the middle years--the dynasties of Myeongjong and Seonjo--of the Joseon era. Their life, along with their studies and thought, however, is yet to be known in spite of their fame(as members of Dongguksippalhyeon) and position in the history of Confucianism. The criticisms on them have been relatively concise. Focussing on the criticisms on the life and studies of Yeochang Jeong by some scholars in the later periods of the Joseon era, the article is concerned more with his studies and thought than with his life history. In the analysis of materials, the article included criticisms on the materials even without established theories and made the arguments easy for the public, although it kept the characteristics of an academic criticism.
