본 논문에서는 역전의 ‘변역의 도(變易의 道)’가 화해관(和諧觀)을 통해서 어떻게 표출되고 있는지를 논하고자 한다. 역전에서는 역경의 점서법을 해석하는 과정에서 우주에 대한 인간의 인식을 ‘변역의 도’에 함축시키고 있다. ‘변역의 도’는 인간이 삼라만상의 생성과 변화를 고찰하고, 그 속에서 생명성의 원리 및 그 방식을 체현한 것이다. 이는 일련의 한 쌍의 범주들로 구현되는데, 이 범주들은 하늘과 땅, 음과 양, 강과 유 등으로서, 끊임없이 상호 대응하면서도 상호 전환하는 변화의 양상을 드러낸다. 그것들은 자체가 일관된 합일적 관점을 보여주는데, 이것을 바로 화해관이라 할 수 있다. 화해관은 특히 음과 양의 정합적 방식에 따라 만사만물의 생명성의 화합적 원칙으로 발현되고, 다른 한편으로는 그 원칙을 인간의 도덕적 경지로 고양시킴으로써 인간의 궁극적 강령의 토대가 된다. 역전에서 ‘변역의 도’는 화해관의 논점을 통해 인도(人道) 즉 덕성함양의 문제를 확충하고 도덕적 인지를 핵심으로 하는 유가의 ‘인본주의’적 세계관을 파악하는 근본적 단서를 제공한다 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The essay is focused upon understanding how the way of changes in the Commentaries of Zhou-yi is revealed through the holistic view of harmony. In the Commentaries of Zhou-yi, the human recognition of the universe are turned into 'the way of changes'. It is the consequence that mankinds observe the generation and changes of all things, and reveal the principle of life and its form implied in them. It is concretized into a series of categories, which are heaven and earth, yin and yang, strong and weak, etc. The categories are ceaselessly corresponding to and changing into each other. They are intensively integrated into a certain coherent viewpoint. The viewpoint is the holistic view of harmony. Particularly, through the reciprocal mode of yin and yang, it is represented into a kind of unitary way for the lives of all things, and, by elevating that kind of unitary way to the moral stage of human mind, provides a basis for the ultimate law of humanity. In the Commentaries of Zhou-yi, therefore, it seems to me that the holistic view of harmony gives a fundamental clue to understanding the Confucian world view of humanity
