2023년 집권당인 캄보디아인민당은 경쟁 없는 선거에서 역대 최고 득표율을 기록하며 압승한 후 훈 센 총리의 장남 훈 마넷의 총리직 승계와 함께 인민당 최고 권력층의 장관직 증여를 포함하는 집단 권력 세습이 단행되었다. 경제는 세계적인 경제 침체로 인해 주요 산업이 부진했던 반면 산업 다각화에 따른 기타 제조업 성장이 고도의 경제성장을 유지하며 인민당의 승리를 뒷받침했다. 국제관계에서는 중국 편향적 대외 정책 기조가 유지되는 가운데 미국과 EU가 협력적 관계로 전환하여 캄보디아에 대한 압박을 이완했다. 아세안 국가들의 지지와 협력은 인민당의 장기 세습 집권체제 구축에 일조했다.
Abstract
The Cambodian People's Party secured a decisive triumph in the 2023 general election, amassing an unprecedented vote share. Based on this electoral success, the incumbent party implemented its power succession plan, elevating Hun Manet to the helm of the new government. Several ministers also inherited their roles from their family power figures. Despite sluggish performance observed in major sectors attributable to the global economic downturn, economic growth was sustained notably by the growth in other manufacturing sectors. This economic stability played a pivotal role in fortifying the electoral victory of the People's Party. Cambodia’s China-centered foreign policy persisted, while the United States and the European Union transitioned towards a more collaborative relationship, thereby alleviating diplomatic pressures on Cambodia. The timely support and collaborative efforts of ASEAN member states also contributed to the justification of the dynastic authoritarian regime.
