초록
We consider multi-period, multi-fare airline seat inventory allocation problems in the presence of customer buying behavior. Kim (2007) developed a two-period, two-fare seat inventory allocation model with strategic customer behavior. Strategic customer behavior is denoted for the situation where a customer may decide to delay purchase to a future point in time. We develop a heuristic model for solving the multi-period, multi-fare seat inventory allocation problems with customer buying behavior and develop an efficient computer algorithm which allows us to make fast computation for finding the optimal solution of the heuristic model. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of strategic customer behavior on the optimal solutions and expected revenues under multi-period setting. The numerical results are compared with those from expected marginal seat revenue (EMSR) approach, a simulation approach and Kim (2007).
