본 연구는 미국 교통부(DOT)의 항공사 분기별 재무보고서를 기반으로 기존 재무제표 비율분석 외에 경영단위 분석까지 포함시킨 내용을 참고하여, 2011년부터 2017년까지 우리나라 국적항공사 경영성과를 수익성 및 비용, 재무적 안정성, 고용 및 노동생산성으로 구분․설정한 후, 이를 분석하였다. 수익성 및 비용 분석 결과, 7년간 항공운송산업의 매출액 규모는 항공운송실적 증가와 함께 지속적인 성장을 해 왔으나, 신규항공사 진입과 기존 항공사간 경쟁 심화 등으로 매출액 대비 수익성은 모든 항공사가 지속적으로 낮아졌다. 재무적 안정성은 저비용항공사 중 제주항공, 진에어, 에어부산은 매우 안정적인 것으로 나타났다. 다만 대형항공사인 대한항공과 아시아나항공은 최근 상당한 재무개선을 했음에도 불구하고, 아직도 미국 항공사들에 비해 높은 부채비율을 보이고 있다. 또한, 티웨이항공과 이스타항공은 2017년에서야 겨우 자본잠식을 벗어났을 뿐 아직도 부채비율은 상당히 높은 편이었다. 고용 및 노동생산성 분석 결과, 저비용항공사의 성장이 단연 눈에 띈다. 대형항공사의 고용은 소폭 상승한 반면, 저비용항공사의 고용은 급격히 증가하였다. 노동생산성에서도 저비용항공사가 대형항공사에 비해 높은 생산성을 가지고 있었다. 하지만 저비용항공사의 노동생산성은 지속적으로 하락하고 있는 추세이며, 전반적인 국적항공사 경쟁력은 저하되고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
In addition to the analysis of the existing Financial Ratio, the airlines financial performance index in Korea including the unit dimension analysis was set as profitability and cost, financial stability, employment and labor productivity from 2011 to 2017 Based on the DOT Airline Quarterly financial review by the US Department of Transportation(DOT). As a result of the analysis of profitability and cost, the total operating revenue of the air transportation industry has continued to grow with the increase in air transportation performance over the past seven years. However, profitability has continued to decline due to entry of new airlines and intensifying competition among existing airlines. Financial stability shown that Jeju Air, Jin Air and Air Busan have very high financial stability among low-cost carriers. However, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, which are major airlines, still have higher debt ratios than US carriers, despite significant financial improvements. In addition, T'way Air and Eastar jet were only out of impaired capital in 2017, but still have a fairly high debt ratio. As a result of the analysis of employment and labor productivity, the growth of low-cost carriers was remarkable. Employment of major airlines increased slightly, while employment of low-cost carriers increased sharply. In labor productivity, low-cost carriers had higher productivity than major airlines. However, the labor productivity of low-cost carriers has been steadily declining.
