저비용항공사의 부가가치생산성에 관한 연구

Study on Value-Added Productivity of Low Cost Carrier in Korea

전 세계적으로 저비용항공사가 지속적으로 성장함에 따라 국내⋅외 연구자들이 저비용항공사의 성장요인과 대형항공사와의 생산성 및 효율성 비교에 대한 연구를 활발하게 진행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는국내 7개 항공사를 대형항공사, 대형항공사의 저비용항공 자회사, 저비용항공사 등 3개 집단으로 분류하여생산성의 차이가 있는지 분석하였다. 3개 집단 간 생산성의 차이를 상대적인 순위로 파악하기보다 크기로비교하기 위해 산출량 지표로 부가가치생산성을 사용하였으며, 부가가치노동생산성과 부가가치자본생산성 차이를 일원분산분석(One-Way ANOVA)을 사용하여 분석하였다. 일원분산분석 결과 3개 집단의 부가가치노동생산성은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있음을 확인하였으나, 부가가치자본생산성에는 유의한 차이가없는 것으로 나타났다. 부가가치노동생산성 차이의 크기를 확인하기 위하여 사후검정을 실시한 결과대형항공사의 부가가치노동생산성이 대형항공사의 저비용항공 자회사 및 저비용항공사보다 더 높게나타났으며, 대형항공사의 저비용항공 자회사와 저비용항공사 간에는 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과 전체적으로 우리나라 저비용항공사는 대형항공사 보다 생산성이 낮은 것으로 분석되어 규모의경제성을 확보하지 못한 것으로 보여 지며, 저비용항공사의 가장 큰 경쟁력인 노동생산성 개선을 위한노력이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 항공사 생산성 비교에 있어 산출지표로 부가가치 개념을도입하였다는 점과 부가가치생산성에 의한 생산성 분석으로 생산성 순위가 아닌 생산성 차이의 크기를확인할 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Abstract

As worldwide low cost carriers(LCCs) are growing continuously, researchers are actively conducting research on growth factors and comparative study on the productivity and efficiency of LCCs and full service carriers(FSCs). In this study, we classified 7 airlines in Korea into three groups, FSC, subsidiary LCC of FSC, and LCC and analyzed the difference of productivity of them. In order to compare the difference of productivity by scale rather than relative ranking we used value-added productivity as output indicator and we used One-Way ANOVA to analyze the differences of value-added labor productivity and value-added capital productivity between the three groups. The analysis shows that the difference of value-added labor productivity between three groups is statistically significant, but there is no significant difference of value-added capital productivity. To determine the scale of the difference of value-added labor productivity we conducted post-test and the result shows that the value-added labor productivity of FSC is higher than subsidiary LCC of FSC, and LCC, but the difference between subsidiary LCC of FSC and LCC is not significant. The result that LCC has lower productivity than FSC is shown that Korean LCC have failed to secure economies of scale, and the efforts to improve labor productivity which is major competitiveness of LCC would be needed. This study has implications in that we introduced value-added concept as output indicator for comparing productivity of airlines and we can identify the scale of difference through analyzing value-added productivity.
