대구 수성구 교육격차와 학생・학부모 특성 연구

본 연구는 대구교육실태연구 2016년 고등학생 자료를 활용하여 대구 수성구 지역과 비수성구 지역, 수성구 내 핵심지역과 일반지역의 학생 및 학부모의 특성을 살펴보고, 수성구 고등학교 재학 결정요인과 수성구의 핵심지역 고등학교 재학 결정요인을 분석하였다. 첫째, 대구 수성구와 비수성구 지역 간에는 전국연합학력평가 등급, 학생의 개인특성과 가정배경 특성에서 차이가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 수성구와 비수성구 재학을 결정하는 가장 큰 상위 변인은 사교육비로 확인되었다. 둘째, 수성구 내 핵심지역과 일반지역 간 전국연합학력평가 성적은 평균 1등급 이상의 차이가 있었으며, 개인특성과 가정배경 특성에서도 차이를 확인하였다. 그리고 핵심지역과 일반지역 재학을 결정하는 가장 큰 상위 변인은 수학성적인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 수성구와 비수성구, 수성구 내에서 핵심지역과 일반지역 간 학생의 개인특성과 가정특성을 객관적 데이터로 확인하여 거주지 내 차별적 분화를 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Using the data from the Daegu Education Research and Information Institute, we investigated the characteristics of students and parents in the Suseong district in Daegu, focused on differences between Suseong and others and differences between the main area in Suseong and other area in Suseong. We also explored determinants of enrolling in high schools in Suseong. The results were as follows: First, there are significant differences in academic grades, individual student characteristics, and family background between Suseong district and other districts. Private tutoring expense is a critical factor as the determinant of enrolling in high schools in Suseong. Second, academic grades among students in the main Suseong area are statistically higher than those of students in other Suseong high schools. There are big difference of students’ characteristics and family background between the main Suseong area and others in Suseong district. Math achievement is a main factor as the determinant of enrolling in main area high schools. These findings show that there are significant differences between students and families living in the main Suseong areas and those living in others areas of Suseong, especially derived from residential segregation based on socio-economic factors.
