Abstract

The public interest values of agriculture, farming villages and farmers who have only played a role of food agriculture are focusing on the pluralistic values of agriculture and rural areas around the world with the emphasis on social agriculture. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) enacted the World Agricultural Legacy System in 2002, a complex system that includes the components of agriculture, ecosystems, knowledge and technology, society, culture and landscape, and their interactions. Also, in Korea, the National Agriculture and Fishery Heritage Designation System has been introduced in 2012 to discover, preserve, and inherit heritage resources that combine disappearing traditional farming fisheries systems and landscape and techniques. These systems are designed to preserve the pluralistic resources of agriculture and promote biodiversity, thereby systematically preserving and managing local agricultural heritage, establishing the identity of local agriculture and residents, promoting regional agricultural heritage tourism, and globalizing local agricultural heritage. Finally, they will contribute to the quality of life of local residents. In the 21st century, eco-museum movement has been developed in Europe to raise awareness of diverse social changes, social needs, and interest and necessity for local communities. This is for the establishment of regional identity through the prosperity of rural communities and future generations, which have been devastated, as well as for solving problems such as the collapse of rural society due to rapid urbanization and the agricultural phenomenon, economic inequalities in urban and rural areas caused by changes in the agricultural products market. Focusing on these two concepts, this study focused on the introduction of eco-museum as an alternative to stimulating the local economy and sought ways to incorporate it into the marginalized areas. In particular, Youyoudong in Beonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk Province, recently designated as a national important agricultural heritage, is an area rich in agricultural resources such as silk farming heritage, the active participation of residents, the ecosystem of Beonsan Peninsula, It also appeared to be a suitable area in terms of 'heritage', 'community participation' and 'museum activity', which are core elements of the rural eco-museum. In the aspect of 'heritage', Youyoudong was superior to the traditional a silkworm-raising room, a wild mulberry tree field, various ecological and natural environments, and traditional silkworm farming artisans. In the 'Participation of Residents' section, self-governing committee activities centered on young returning residents and villagers, willingness to preserve traditional silkworm farming heritage, and voluntary festival operation were included. Finally, this is a suitable environment for 'Museum Activities' considering the construction of rural eco museum such as various silk - related hardware, mulberry scenery and surrounding cultural properties located in silk worm town.
