본 연구는 오버투어리즘 등 관광객의 급증으로 인한 지역사회의 영향력을 검토하기 위해 관광객과의 접촉 빈도에 따른 지역 주민의 관광영향 인식과 정서가 관광객에 대한 행동의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. 관광객과의 접촉빈도가 높은 집단은 관광의 부정적 영향 인식을 더 높게 인식하였으며 관광객에 대한 부정적 정서도 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 지역주민의 관광객에 대한 행동의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴본 결과, 긍정적 정서가 가장 크게 영향을 미쳤으며 그 다음으로 긍정적 영향 인식이 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 부정적 영향인식인 주관적 피해인식과 물리적 피해인식은 관광객에 대한 행동의도에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 났으며 관광객에 대한 부정적 정서 또한 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과, 접촉빈도가 관광의 긍정적인 영향 인식과 긍정적인 정서에는 크게 영향을 미치지 않으나 관광의 부정적인 영향 인식과 부정적 정서에는 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 학문적 시사점으로는 관광 영향에 대한 기존 연구들이 지역주민의 경제적, 사회적, 환경적 영향에 집중한 반면, 본 연구는 지역주민의 정서를 함께 측정하여 관광지 주민이 관광객과의 접촉을 통해 느끼는 정서의 중요성을 강조하였다는데 의의가 있다. 또한 관광객과의 접촉빈도 고저집단 간 관광 영향 인식과 정서, 행동의도를 살펴봄으로써‘접촉 수준’에 따라 차이가 발생할 수 있음을 제시하였다. 이에 관광객과의 접촉에 있어 지역 주민들이 즐겁고 유쾌한 긍정적인 정서를 느낄 수 있도록 관광객이 타지역을 방문할 때 지역주민의 생활을 존중하고 사생활을 배려하는 성숙한 시민의식과 상호 존중의 사회적 공감대 형성이 필요함을 제시하는 바이다.
Abstract
This study investigated the influence of local residents’ perception of tourism impact, affect and behavior intention toward tourists. Survey respondents in this study were the residents of Aewol in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The research was conducted under the assumption that there will be differences in the perception of tourism impacts, affect, and behavior intention of tourists depending on the frequency level of contact with tourists. It was found that the high contact frequency group had higher perception scores of negative tourism impact than the low contact frequency group. The high contact frequency group had higher negative affect scores. The positive affect and positive perception of tourism impact have a significant effect on the behavior intention. These results suggest that local community and tourists need to co-work for preventing emotional hurts by tourists as well as considering the other party. Local tourism can successfully be vitalized with involvement of communities. The local residents’ positive perceptions of tourism impacts and the positive affect toward tourists, show the kindness and hospitality of tourists. Tourists and local government need to try to make efforts for coexistence with local residents, instead of demanding the sacrifice and patience of local residents. It is necessary to identify the factors influencing the attitude of the community members toward tourists.
