제주도 초등학생의 관광에 대한 인식과 지역사회 만족도가 방문객에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향

초등학생 대상 관광에 대한 인식과 관련된 연구는 미래 관광 산업의 주역이라는 중요성에 비해 국내･외로 극히 소수의 연구가 발표되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 제주도 초등학생들이 현재 속한 지역 사회의 관광 영향에 대한 인식과 지역사회 만족도, 지역 관광객에 대한 태도를 조사함으로써 그들이 지역의 중추적 구성원으로 성장해 나갈 미래의 제주도 관광 산업과 관광교육 방향에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 초등학생을 대상으로 한 본 연구 결과, 기존 성인대상 연구에서 도출되었던 경제적 영향, 사회･문화적 영향, 환경적 영향이라는 관광의 영향력이 사회･경제적 영향과 환경적 영향이라는 두 가지 요인으로 축소되어 인식됨이 밝혀졌다. 지역 방문 관광객에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 지역 사회 만족도가 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤으며 그 다음으로 사회･경제적 영향, 환경적 영향에 대한 인식, 그리고 미래 관광에 대한 기대가 유의하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 지역 관광 발전을 위해서는 우선적으로 지역 사회 만족도를 높이는 방안이 고려되어져야 하며 지역 관광의 사회･경제적 영향과 환경적 영향에 대한 교육 및 지역 구성원들의 지역 관광에 대한 중요성과 관련된 공감대 형성을 통해 다음 세대로 자연스러운 가치 전달이 필요함을 제안하는 바이다.
Abstract
This study investigates the elementary students’ perceptions of the impacts on the tourism and community satisfaction as well as their attitudes toward local tourists in Jeju Island. The survey was conducted in two parts of Jeju Island. One was conducted in Hallim, a rural community of Jeju city and the other was carried out in Jeju-si, the major city of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The research has confirmed the elementary students' perceptions did not distinguish such economic impacts or the social. However, they clearly perceived the environmental impacts from tourism. The rural young residents’ highly regarded the economic benefits and the expectations of local tourism than the same age group young residents in the Jeju-si area. The attitudes towards local tourists were influenced by the perceptions of tourism impacts, community satisfaction, and their expectations of local tourism.
