Abstract

This study analyzes the determinants of housing satisfaction among migrant workers using data from the Immigrant Living Conditions and Employment Survey conducted in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024. According to the results of an ordered logit model, after controlling for other influencing factors, migrant workers residing in the Seoul metropolitan area reported higher levels of housing satisfaction than those living in non-metropolitan regions. Furthermore, by utilizing the characteristics of pooled cross-sectional data across the four survey years, the study confirms that although overall housing satisfaction among migrant workers increased following the COVID-19 pandemic, the gap in satisfaction between metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas narrowed. These findings suggest that post-pandemic housing improvement policies may have contributed to a more balanced regional impact, and they offer meaningful implications for the development of housing support strategies aimed at promoting stable settlement and enhancing labor productivity among migrant workers.
