This research aims to broadly extract neologism derived form the large scalenewspaper corpus, the wave21 corpus and explore its use periodically in order toreveal the characteristics of it. The wave21 corpus is a comprehensive collection ofnews articles printed form 2000 until 2012 by Chosun Daily, DongA Daily,Joong-ang Daily and the Hankyureh. As a result, 1,240 new nouns were found andanalyzed. Then the yearly usage patterns of these words also examined in order toverify correlation of the productivity of word formation process and establishmentof new words. In conclusion there is no serious correlation of the morphologicalproductivity and establishment of new words. In addition, more important factor todetermine the distribution or establishment of new words not depends on linguisticproperties, but socio-cultural interest.
