新語의 生成과 使用－사람 관련 名詞를 대상으로－

이 논문은 대규모의 新聞 자료로부터 ‘-꾼, -족(族), -장이/쟁이, -맨(man), -팬(fan), -파라치(parazzi)’에 의해 派生된 사람 관련 新語 名詞들을 추출, 그 특성을 정리하고 이들의 시기별 사용 양상을 밝히는 데 그 목적이 있다. 특히 2000년부터 2012년까지 발행된 <조선일보>, <동아일보>, <중앙일보>, <한겨레신문> 전체 기사로 구성된 <물결 21> 코퍼스로부터 사람 관련 新語들을 폭넓게 발굴하고 그 특성을 정리하는 것뿐 아니라 이들이 시기별로 어떠한 양상으로 사용되는지를 함께 고려함으로써 新語가 국어의 어휘 체계 속에 정착하는 과정을 함께 살펴보았다. 그 결과로 820개 類型의 사람 관련 新語 名詞를 발굴하고 그 특성을 분석하였으며 이들의 연도별 사용 패턴도 함께 조사하였다. 특히 그 사용 빈도가 증가하거나 지속적인 쓰임을 보이는 新語들은 국어의 어휘 체계 속에 정착할 확률이 높다고 예측하였다. 이 硏究는 대규모의 신문 기사로부터 풍부한 新語 자료를 발굴하였을 뿐 아니라 그 사용 양상을 시기적으로 고찰하였다는 점에서 더욱 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This paper aims to extract neologism derived from words such as ‘-kkun(꾼), -cok(족(族)), -cangi/cengi(장이/쟁이), -man, -fan, -parazzi)’ that relates to the person from mainstream newspapers, in order to organize the findings characteristics and reveal the usage. First, this paper took the corpus, which is a comprehensive collection of news articles printed from 2000 until 2012 by Chosun Daily, DongA Daily, Joongang Daily and the Hankyureh, and broadly extracted all neologism related to the person and organized its characteristics. Then, the words were examined to find the aspect of usage based on the period of time. Through this process, how neologism finds its niche in the Korean language will be analyzed. In conclusion, 820 noun words in relation to the person were found and ana- lyzed. The yearly usage patterns of these words were also examined. It was predicted that words with a higher usage frequency would have a higher rate of settling into the Korean vocabulary system. This research is sig- nificant in that it not only extracted a rich pool of neologism from main- stream news articles but also took into consideration the usage of those words in the aspect of time.
