Purpose: This study aimed to identify the educational needs of patients with major solid tumors, including those with breast, gynecologic, lung, colon, and stomach cancers. Methods: A total of 408 patients participated in the research, including 188 with gynecologic cancer, 97 with breast cancer, 43 with lung cancer, 40 with stomach cancer, and 40 with colon cancer. A self-reported questionnaire was used to assess general characteristics, disease-related features, and educational needs regarding treatment management and therapeutic information. In addition, open-ended responses were collected and analyzed by cancer type. Results: Both general treatment management educational needs (p= .040) and therapeutic information educational needs (p< .001) showed significant differences according to diagnosis. Key priorities for general treatment management included “understanding physical changes during chemotherapy” and “the purpose of blood tests.” For therapeutic information, the highest priorities were “methods to minimize the side effects of chemotherapy,” “coping mechanisms for chemotherapy side effects,” and “the purpose of medication.” Women showed higher needs for therapeutic information than men (p= .032). Needs also differed by age (p= .034) and gender (p= .046). Conclusion: This paper highlights the unique educational needs of cancer patients based on their cancer type. These findings emphasize the importance of designing personalized education programs that empower patients during chemotherapy. Future multicenter studies are encouraged to expand understanding across diverse populations.
