Abstract

This study newly defined the issue of the author and the writing period for the Eongan written by Empress Sunmyeonghyo of Emperor Sunjong of the Korean Empire. As a result, the eongan of Empress Sunmyeonghyo was confirmed as 12 pieces in total. In the first discussion introducing Empress Sunmyeonghyo's writings, a total of 10 pieces were presented, and in the later discussions, the letter of <평일존명만> was added and presented as 11 pieces. However, when the initial data was collected and printed in 古文書集成 8, the separate letters were edited and presented as one, and the letter beginning with <나라의경츅이>, where the two letters were treated as one because the original was not accurately confirmed. was confirmed as an independent letter. In addition, the letter beginning with <규리소찰이> had the contents on the back as well as the front. However, in 古文書集成 8, <규리소찰이> and <향니로가시면> were recognized as one piece because the latter part was not recorded. Therefore, this too was confirmed as an independent letter again. Lastly, <평일존명만>, which was added as a letter to Empress Sunmyeonghyo, proved that it was not a letter from Empress Sunmyeonghyo based on the fact that the shape of the letters and the vocabulary used were different. As for t he writ ing period, t he details writ t en f rom Oct ober 1894 t o the summer of 1904 were newly confirmed by analyzing the contents of 12 Eongan of Empress Sunmyeonghyo.
