학맥 전승의 사회적 장치로서의 계(稧) －정경세(鄭經世)의 우복학맥(愚伏學脈)과 ‘우복문인자손계(愚伏門人子孫稧)－’

이 글은 계의 작동 및 효용성을 학맥의 전승이라는 학문･사회적 영역에 대입하여 분석한 것이다. 호혜와 협동의 측면에서 계의 역할과 기능에 대해서는 상당한 연구가 축적되었지만 학맥(學脈) 전승의 사회적 장치로서의 계의 효용에 대해서는 별다른 검토가 이루어지지 못했다. 이와 같은 문제의식을 바탕으로 본고에서는 정경세(鄭經世) 문인의 자손들이 기획한 ‘우복문인자손계(愚伏門人子孫稧)’의 설립 배경, 작동 양상을 분석하여 그것이 갖는 사회적 효용을 가늠하는데 연구의 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 통해 ‘우복문인자손계’는 『우복별집(愚伏別集)』의 간행에 설립의 취지와 목표가 있었고, 그런 사업은 연원의식(淵源意識)의 재확인을 통해 약 200년 동안 잠복되어 있던 우복학맥의 표출이라는 18-19세기 영남학계의 판도와 연동되어 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This study examines the functioning and effectiveness of the association (稧) within the domain of academic and social transmission, particularly in the context of academic lineage succession. While substantial research has been conducted on the role and function of associations from the perspectives of reciprocity and cooperation, little attention has been given to their utility as social mechanisms for the transmission of academic lineages. With this awareness, this study focuses on analyzing the background and operational aspects of the ‘Association of the Disciples and Descendants of Ubok (愚伏門人子孫稧),’ an organization established by the descendants of Jeong Gyeong-se’s disciples. The study aims to assess its social utility by exploring its objectives and mechanisms. Through this analysis, it is revealed that the primary purpose of the association was the publication of Ubok Byeoljip (愚伏別集) and that such an endeavor was intrinsically linked to the academic landscape of 18th to 19th century Yeongnam by reaffirming a sense of academic origin (淵源意識). In this way, the association facilitated the resurgence of the Ubok academic lineage, which had remained dormant for approximately two centuries.
