고령층 주거환경 만족도와 교통사고 공간집중 사이의 연관성 고찰: 다수준 분석을 활용한 수도권 실증 연구

본 연구는 대표적인 교통 약자로 인식되고 있는 고령층을 대상으로 지역사회 교통사고 공간분포 특성이 주거환경 만족도에 미친 영향을 실증적으로 규명함으로써, 고령화 시대 안전한 도시공간 조성 및 도시 적주성 향상을 위한 생활안전 측면의 정책적 시사점을 도출하는데 그 목적이 있다. 주거실태조사 수도권 원시자료(2014)와 수도권 교통사고 경찰청 통합 DB 자료(2014)를 활용한 다수준 분석결과, 예상대로 보행안전, 치안안전, 시설 접근성 변수는 주거환경 만족도에 (+)영향을 미친 반면, 교통사고 핫스팟 면적 비율은 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 주거환경 만족도에 (-)영향을 보였다. 특히 교통사고 핫스팟 면적 비율은 주거지 녹지지역 면적 비율과 유사한 수준에서 주거환경 만족 여부에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 고령층 생활도로 교통사고 노출 위험 저감을 위한 안전관리 정책은 고령가구의 주거환경 성능을 제고하는 효과적인 전략으로 이해될 수 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to suggest policy implication on urban safety and livability of elderly by testing whether and to what extent spatial cluster of traffic incidents affects residential satisfaction of elderly. Using Korean Housing Survey(2014) and Traffic-incident DB(2014) collected by Korean National Police Agency, we developed multi-level analysis for statistic inference. As expected, the evidence shows that there are significant relationships between residential satisfaction of elderly and several subjective measurements on pedestrian safety, crime safety, access to residential facilities, whereas a traffic incident hot-spot area was negatively associated with residential satisfaction of elderly at the 5% significant level. Notably, the magnitude of impact of a traffic incident hot-spot area is equal to that of local green area. Based on those findings, street safety management policy more focused on mitigating the risk of traffic incidents highly exposed to an elder group can be an effective tool to improve the performance of residential environment where elder households live.
