A Study on the Yonsei Korean Dictionary from a Korean Language Research Perspective

초록

이 논문은 『연세한국어사전』의 발간이 한국어 연구에 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는지를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 『연세한국어사전』은 한국 최초의 말뭉치 기반 사전이면서, ‘언어사전’으로는 유일한 한국어사전이다. 『연세한국어사전』은 여러 가지 면에서 이전에 발간된 한국어사전과 구별된다. 『 연세한국어사전』은 이전의 사전과 달리 말뭉치 기반 사전이다. 『연세한국어사전』발간 전후에 한국어 연구가 어떻게 변화했는지 몇 가지 키워드를 중심으로 구체적으로 알아본 결과, 1990 년대 중반부터 말뭉치의 구축과 활용이 한국어 연구에 도입되면서 한국어 연구의 패러다임이 바뀌기 시작하였다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 말뭉치라는 거대한 언어 자료는 언어학을 인접 학문과 융합이 가능하게 하였다. 지금까지의 문법 연구는 언어를 큰 단위에서 작은 단위로 분절해 나가면서 언어 단위들 간의 규칙을 찾는 데에 많은 힘을 쏟았지만 앞으로는 분절이 아니라 말뭉치 즉 언어 자료 그 자체에 초점을 맞추게 될 가능성이 크다. 앞으로의 한국어 연구는 사용역별로 구축된 말뭉치의 분석을 통하여 특정한 사용역에서의 언어 사용 정보를 추출하는 것이 중요해질 가능성이 있다. 특히 양질의 구어 자료들이 구축되면서 한국어 연구의 중심이 문어 자료 중심에서 구어 자료 중심으로 옮아갈 가능성이 있다. 이는 담화적 연구, 화용론적 연구로 이어질 것이며 한국어교육이나 국어교육에 활용될 수 있는 자료로서의 가치를 지니게 될 것이다.
