한국어 학습자의 어휘량과 한국어 능력의 관계에 관한 연구 - 중국 대학의 학습자를 중심으로　-

Vocabulary ability is the basis of all language skills and closely related tolearners' language proficiency in all areas. This study aims to measure vocabularysize, analyse the correlation between vocabulary ability and language proficiency. In this study, we selected forty Chinese students majoring in Korean language atChinese universities as the subjects and randomly selected 100 words byfrequency from a vocabulary list containing 10,641 words issued by the NationalInstitute of Korean Language. We then calculated the learners' vocabulary size viathe VST method. The study analysed the correlation between vocabulary scoresand TOPIK scores. The development of learners' vocabulary ability and its effecton language proficiency were also examined. Vocabulary ability was proved tohave a relatively large effect on language proficiency. However, vocabularyability had a bigger effect on the language proficiency of the advanced learnersgroup than on the basic learners group.
