동사성 분석을 통한 청소년 주체의성장 양상 연구－소설 『완득이』를 중심으로

본고는 현대 성장 소설에 나타난 청소년 주체의 성장 양상을 사회와 주변 인물과의 관계 속에서 탐구하고자 한다. 이를 위해 대표적인 성장 소설로 『완득이』를선정하여 청소년 주체의 성장 양상을 살펴보았다. 소설 이면에 작용하는 주체들의 관계 양상을 포착하기 위해 본고에서는 체계 기능 언어학의 동사성 체계를 사용하여 양적으로 분석하였다. 청소년 주체 도완득의 동사성 변화 양상이 다른 주체와의 변화 양상과 어떤 관련이 있는지, 이 양상이 청소년 주체의 성장과 어떤관련이 있는지 고찰하였다. 분석 결과 도완득의 동사성 변화 양상은 사회적 약자인 아버지, 삼촌보다 담임교사인 이동주의 동사성 변화 양상과 더 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 또한 도완득의동사성 변화 양상과 여성 주체들의 동사성 변화 양상을 살펴볼 때, 상대적으로 남성 주체들보다 직접적인 관련성이 드러나지 않았다. 본고는 체계 기능 언어학에 기반을 둔 양적 접근이 문학 작품 속 주체들 간의관계를 드러낼 수 있음을 보여주고자 하였다. 이 접근을 통해 성장소설 속 청소년의 성장 양상을 주변 주체들과의 관계 속에서 파악하였다. 문학 작품에 양적 분석을 적용하는 것은 연구자가 지닌 편향성 극복과 문학 작품 속 주체들의 사회적속성이 가지는 의미를 드러내는 데 의의를 가진다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore the aspect of growth in contemporary youth growth novels in the context of society and its surrounding characters. To do this, I tried to examine the aspect of children’s development by selecting 『Wandeuki』as a typical modern children’s development novel. In order to capture the aspect of the relationship with the agency acting on the back of the novel, this paper quantitatively analyzed using transitivity classification of systematic functional linguistics. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the changes in the transitivity and the change of the agency. As a result of the analysis, the aspect of transitivity change of Wandeuki is more closely related to the change of the homeroom teacher than the father and uncle, who are social minor . In addition, there is little relation between mother and Jung Yoon - ha who is a female agency. This study intends to show that the quantitative approach based on systematic functional linguistics can reveal the relationship between the agency of literary works. Quantitative analysis can help to overcome the biases that researchers have and to reveal the meaning of the social attributes of agency.
