한낙원 과학소설상 수상작을 통해 본 아동청소년의 꿈과 아지트

한낙원 과학소설상은 2013년부터 지금까지 10회에 걸쳐 이어져 오고 있다. 한낙원 과학소설 수상작은 아동청소년 SF를 대상으로 한다. SF는 독자에게 ‘인지적 낯섦’으로 신선한 충격을 주는 장르이다. 그러나 아동청소년 SF에서 접한 세계는 아무리 로봇이 등장하고 외계인이 등장해도 낯설지 않고 어디선가 본 듯한 익숙함을 선사한다. 다락방 의 외계 행성에서 온 우주인, 마을 뒷동산의 아지트에서 쏘아 올리는 로켓, 히치하이킹 을 하는 로봇, 반려동물 사이보그 등 성인 SF라면 낯설게 보이는 존재들이 어디선가 본 듯한 기시감(unheimlich)을 주는 것은 무슨 연유일까. 제1회부터 제10회까지 수상작과 우수응모작 중 가장 많은 소재를 차지하는 것은 로 봇, 사이보그이다. 그리고 지구 이외의 다른 행성, 우주와 외계인, 가상세계 등이다. 한낙원 과학소설상 수상작 아동청소년 SF는 성인 SF에서 다루어지는 소재와 겹쳐지는 부분이 있지만, 기후, 환경, 장애 등과 같은 문제보다 학교생활을 중심으로 한 친구와 가족관계에서 벌어지는 갈등, 혹은 자기 정체성에 관한 문제가 주를 이룬다. 그리고 우리가 흔히 SF의 주인공은 매혹적인 ‘공간’이라고 할 정도로 낯선 공간의 신선함에서 재미를 얻는다고 말한 것과 달리, 공간보다 주체(인물, 캐릭터, 로봇 등)의 관계에 얽힌 서사가 더 부각된다. 왜 한낙원 과학소설상 SF에서는 미지의 가보지 못한 행성이 등장하는데도 낯설지 않은 것일까. 오히려 외롭고 잔인하고 잔혹한 현실의 세계가 낯설고 받아들이기 힘들게 다가온다. 본 연구에서는 한낙원 과학소설상 수상작들에서 SF의 주인공인 공간과 인물 들의 관계 맺기가 어떻게 형상화되고 있는지 들여다보았다.
Abstract
Nakwon Han’s Science Fiction Award has been held ten times since 2013. Nakwon Han’s science fiction award–winning work is aimed at science fiction for children and adolescents. Science fiction is a genre that gives readers a fresh shock through ‘cognitive unfamiliarity.’ However, the world encountered in science fiction for children and adolescents is not unfamiliar, no matter how many robots and aliens appear, and gives a sense of familiarity as if we have seen it somewhere before. What is the reason why creatures that seem unfamiliar to adult SF, such as an alien from an alien planet in the attic, a rocket launched from a hideout in the back of the village, a hitchhiking robot, and a pet cyborg, give a sense of déjà vu (unheimlich) as if we have seen it somewhere before? Among the winning works and excellent entries from the 1st to the 10th, robots and cyborgs accounted for the most material. And other planets other than Earth, space, aliens, virtual worlds, etc. Winner of the Han Nak–won Science Fiction Award, science fiction for children and adolescents has some overlap with the subject matter covered in adult science fiction, but it focuses on conflicts arising in relationships with friends and family centered on school life, or on self– identity, rather than on issues such as climate, environment, and disability. The main problem is And contrary to what we commonly say about the protagonist of SF getting fun from the freshness of an unfamiliar space to the point of being called a fascinating ‘space,’ the narrative related to the relationship between subjects (people, characters, robots, etc.) stands out more than the space. Unlike adult SF, SF for children and adolescents seems to have an internalized sense of burden and responsibility to deliver educational value. So, even if you go to space because it’s science fiction, even if you meet aliens, or even if you replace what you want to do with robots, you end up pursuing traditional values such as love and friendship. Is ‘family’ still important in relationships in future society? Are love, consideration, and sacrifice still important values in relationships? Now is the time to seriously consider whether traditional and humanistic values will remain important in future society.
