Abstract

With the increasing impact of globalization, expanding people-to-people exchange among countries has become more prevalent worldwide. In the same way, the number of foreign students in Korea has been increasing steadily. This study aims to examine the sequential mechanisms of online social capital, positive psychological capital, acculturation and job satisfaction. Study samples are 162 Chinese student workers in Korea. Model 6 of PROCESS Macro was used for the analysis. The results indicate that online social capital positively affects job satisfaction. In addition, the results confirm the each mediating effects and the serial mediation effects of positive psychological capital and acculturation on the association of online social capital with job satisfaction. The tests of differences in indirect effects suggest that focus on acculturation or cultivating optimism and self-efficacy is more effective than to reinforce acculturation through these psychological capital in terms of job satisfaction improvement. This study contributes to research by verifying, for the first time, the sequential mechanisms of these variables. Finally, implications and research limitations were presented at the final section.
