Abstract
This study aims to investigate the characteristics of Chinese language researches based on the discourse data published in the academic journals from England and America for the past decade. Recently, Chinese language-related researches in Britain and the United States have focused on diverse types of spoken discourses, breaking away from conventional written discourse-oriented studies. In the studies based on Chinese discourse data, the corpus mostly developed by individuals is usually used. In fact, the public one developed by colleges or research institutes for general public has been rarely utilized. In linguistic analysis based on Chinese discourse data, the mixed research methods which adopt at least two different research approaches focusing on the data regarding the native speakers who use Mandarin Chinese reveal the highest percentage. In order for Chinese-language academic studies in the Republic of Korea to properly respond to research changes which have recently been detected in England and America, it is needed to facilitate spoken discourse data-based studies by developing and utilizing large-scale spoken discourse corpus. Furthermore, it is required to promote pluridisciplinary convergence studies through cooperation between Chinese linguistics and other academic fields.
