왕양명의 음악교육사상으로 본 현대음악교육

이 논문은 왕양명의 음악교육론과 현재 우리나라 교육과정에 나타난 음악교육을 비교 검토한 것으로 인간의 본성[양지], 인간 가치의 회복을 위하여 우리나라 음악교육이 어떻게 성립되어야 하는지를 논의해본 글이다. 양명의 음악교육은 ‘아동의 양지발현을 위한 무언(無言)의 교육’이며, ‘아동의 정신을 화창하게 드러내고, 심기(心氣)의 화평을 위한 것’이며, ‘개인의 음악적 재능과 공동체의 조화를 중시하는 교육’이다. 현재 시행되는 우리나라 제7차 교육과정의 최종목표인 21세기의 세계화정보화시대를 주도할 자율적이고 창의적인 한국인 육성은 한시적인 시대의 흐름에 대응하는 인간을 육성하는 것이다. 물론 교육은 다변화하는 시대의 흐름에 적절히 대응하는 역할 또한 필수적인 요건이겠으나, 교육의 최종목표는 인간의 가치, 인간의 본성[양지]을 회복하기 위한 인간교육이 되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 현재 우리나라 교육의 궁극적 목표는 한시적 영역에서 인간본성의 회복을 위한 목표로 변경되어야 할 것이고, 음악교육은 아동 ‘나름의 덕’이 뿌리를 내려 더욱 견고해지도록 교육되어져야 할 것으로 본다. 또한 음악교육의 목표중 하나인 아동의 음악성 개발은 아동의 음악지식의 척도에 따른 ‘심미적 안목의 형성’에만 편중되어 있고, 도덕덕성교육을 전제로 하는 ‘바람직한 가치관의 형성’이 구체적으로 제시되어 있지 못하다. 따라서 아동의 음악성 개발교육이 성취되기 위해서는 아동의 마음을 양육할 수 있는 구체적 대안이 필요한데, 이를 양명의 음악교육론에서 제시해보았다.
Abstract
This writing compares the musical education theory of Wang Yang Myung(王陽明, 1472-1528) with the current Korean musical education, and argues what a musical education should be for the recovery of human values. The musical education of Wang involves 'the silent education for a child's nature', 'the brilliant and peaceful manifest of a child's mind', and 'the education for the musical talents of an individual and harmony of communities'. 'Raising spontaneous and creative Koreans who can lead the era of globalization and information of the 21th century', which is the final goal of the 7th education course, means the bringing up individuals who can successfully confront the world shifting everyday. The ultimate purpose of education should be the human education for recovering human values and human nature although education also has to be ways and methods for confronting today's changing world. For this reason the current education in Korea should be changed for restoring human nature and securing child's virtues. Moreover, 'a desirable formation of values' based on moral and virtue education is still far off since the current education is confined to musical knowledge. Therefore a concrete and practical method is necessary to nurture a child's mind, which has been suggested in Wang's musical education theory. This writing presents the way a musical education should be carried out for human education.
