四書 성립과정에 관한 연구

본고에서는 『論語』, 『孟子』, 『大學』, 『中庸』에 대하여 그 텍스트의 성립시기로부터 宋代에 이르러 四書라는 체계로 확립되면서 경전으로서의 지위를 획득해가는 과정을 추적하였다. 그리고 이러한 경전화의 과정은 宋代 程朱學의 정신 및 이념체계의 시작과 연관되어 있음을 밝혔다. 따라서 우리는 四書에 대하여, 유교 이념의 전형으로서의 표준적인 권위를 지닌 經典이라는 전통적으로 고착된 시야에 매몰되지 않고, 새로운 송대의 시대정신을 발현하는 과정 속에서 새롭게 해석되고 조망된 텍스트로 그 자의성과 참신성을 인정할 때에만 그 본래의 의미와 또한 새로운 역할을 찾아낼 수 있게 될 것이다.
Abstract
In this paper, we traced the whole process, which the Analects(the Discourses of Confucius), the Works of Mencius, the Doctrine of the Mean, and the Great Learning were made as each Confucian text, gained the status as Confucian Canons, and were established as 'the Four Books' category. We also inquire all these streams are connected with Song Neo-Confucian Ideological system. In conclusion, we can find the original meaning and new function of the Four Books, which can functioned in these days, only when we do not bury under traditional view which the Four Books are the Confucian Cannons with standard authority and archetype of Confucian ideology, and only when we acknowledge the Four Books as newly interpreted and understood one in a view and spirit of the times(Song period) so that we can accept the arbitrary arbitariness, creativity, and originality in the Four books.
