본 논문은 당오대(唐五代) 채련사(采蓮詞)의 존재 양상과 그 의미를 살펴본 것이다. 당오대 시기는 중국 문학사에서 시(詩)에서 사(詞)로 이행하는 과도기로 거론되는데, 채련사에 이러한 과도기적 양상이 뚜렷하게 나타난다. 채련사에 나타난 변화는 성중당(盛中唐)과 만당오대(晩唐五代)의 두 시기로 나눠 볼 수 있다. 성중당 채련사는 시사(詩詞)의 과도기적 면모를 나타낸다. 채련곡은 연악에 맞추기 위해 사체에 가까워지고, 채련사는 시의 미학에 기대어 성장한 것이다. 만당오대 채련사는 강남(江南) 문화의 영향 아래 성장하고 발전하였다. 이 시기 채련사는 남녀유희에서 벗어나 이별의 슬픔을 노래함으로써 사의 서정 세계를 넓혔다. 특히, 과거의 사랑과 현재의 이별을 대비하여 사의 시공간을 다층적으로 변모시켰다. 또, 강남 수경(水景) 안에 채련녀의 감정이나 심리를 담아내어 사의 시공간을 서정적으로 변모시켰다. 따라서, 당오대 채련사는 사 문학의 정체성 확립에 기여하고, 북송(北宋) 채련사 발전의 기반을 마련하였다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper examines the evolution of Cailian Ci (采蓮詞) during the Tang and Five Dynasties period, arguing that these lyrics reflect key developmental shifts in Ci (詞) poetry. This evolution is divided into two distinct phases. During the High and Mid-Tang periods, Cailian Ci exhibited a transitional form between Shi (詩) and Ci. Its forms varied: some pieces retained the Yuefu (樂府) title, Cailian Qu (採蓮曲), but employed the formal structure of Ci, while others were Cailian Ci that adopted Shi forms. Collectively, these illustrate the early stage in the formation of Ci poetry. The Late Tang and Five Dynasties periods show Cailian-Ci reflecting the cultural atmosphere of Jiangnan (江南). The prevailing love motif, in particular, was significantly expanded. For instance, the Cailian-Ci written by Wen Tingyun (溫庭筠) contrasted past joy with present grief through the maiden's sorrow, consequently broadening the temporal and spatial dimensions of Ci. Furthermore, the Jiangnan landscape was transformed into a setting that mirrored human emotions. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that Cailian Ci played a crucial role in establishing the definitive features of Ci and laying the groundwork for its subsequent flourishing in the Northern Song dynasty.
