지역 축제의 전통음악 콘텐츠 활용 사례 분석

Abstract

In this paper, I analyzed cases of how traditional music contents are being used in local festivals. Local festivals using Korean traditional music are divided into ‘traditional history’ and ‘culture and art’. If the festival represents past cultural activities, it is classified as ‘traditional history’ and if it is a reflection of current cultural activities, it is classified as ‘cultural art’. The theme of the local festivals are divided into five categorization: ① traditional music ② reproducing the court rituals ③ seasonal customs of Korea ④ people and literature related to traditional music ⑤ other local cultural festivals. Analysis of the use of traditional music content at local festivals leads to the following conclusions: First, when using traditional music to reproduce traditional culture, modern interpretation should be added along with faithful reproduction of past music. Second, Korean traditional music is used as a material for new cultural and artistic creations in the region. Thus, regional festivals provide places for creative fusion kugak teams to present their artistic works. Third, local residents participate in the traditional music contests in order to encourage the settlement of local traditional music or to discover talents in traditional music field so that they can support creative activities and provide performance opportunities. Fourth, academic conferences with the theme of Korean traditional music establish the academic foundation necessary for the preservation, transmission, and utilization of local traditional music. Fifth, Korean citizen’s participation is essential for the success and settlement of local festivals. Thus, strategies for cultural experience management is needed so that people can learn Korean traditional music and learn how to make traditional instruments.
