Abstract

The purpose of this work is to explore how Korean classical music enters into the concert and concert hall culture, which originated in the West, and develops performance repertoire, and further creates its concert culture by collecting and analyzing the press releases about performances of Korean classical music in Daegu. Based on the materials, this work is comprised of the course of answering the following questions: First, the specific way that the accumulation of going beyond the traditional repertoires that were created in the early phase of stage performance of Korean classical music is achieved for music concert events to be activated; secondly, the way that the patterns of programs of Korean classical music concerts appear; and thirdly, the way that the changes in the programs appear according to diversification of the music concerts. Because the concert culture and concert hall culture that originated in the West are familiar in our society, it is nothing new to think about their implication and limitation. Nevertheless, it is interesting to look into how our traditional music contributes to creating the current Korean classical music. To allow Korean classical music genre to be enjoyed in the future, it is necessary to examine the development of Korean classical music performed on stages from a critical standpoint.
