유아 기질 및 심리적 가정환경변인과유아의 문제행동과의 관계

본 연구는 유아 기질 및 심리적 가정환경변인(어머니의 특성, 부부갈등, 아버지의 반사회적 행동, 어머니의 양육행동)이 문제행동의 각 유형에 따라 어떠한 경로로 영향을 미치는지를 알아보는 데 목적이 있었다. 연구 대상은 서울, 경기, 충청 지역에 소재한 유치원과 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 3～5세 유아 136명과 그들의 어머니 136명 그리고 교사 49명이다. 연구결과 위축문제는 유아의 기질과 어머니 특성이 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 우울/불안문제는 어머니 특성이 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 주의집중문제는 유아 기질과 어머니 양육행동이 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 어머니 특성과 아버지의 반사회적인 행동, 부부갈등이 양육행동을 통하여 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 비행문제는 유아 기질과 아버지의 반사회적 행동이 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 공격성문제는 유아의 기질과 부부갈등이 직접적인 영향을, 어머니 특성과 아버지의 반사회적 행동이 부부갈등을 통하여 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 유아의 문제행동을 예방치료하기 위해서는 유아의 기질적 특성과 가정환경의 심리적 특성을 이해해야 할 필요가 있으며, 문제행동을 유발할 수 있는 부모의 부정적 정서나 행동특성 및 부부관계와 양육행동의 질이 긍정적으로 변화할 수 있도록 다각적인 노력을 기울여야 한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the manner in which the temperament of young children and psychological variables within the familial environment (i.e. mother's characteristics; specifically nurturing behaviors, father’s antisocial) affect each type of behavioral problem. After examination of this relationship, it is found that the child’s temperament in combination with the mother’s characteristics has a direct influence on cowering issues, while only the mothers’ characteristics are shown to produce direct effects on depression/anxiety issues. Additionally, the mother’s characteristics, the father’s anti- social activities and marriage conflicts have indirect effects on these issues via the nurturing behaviors. Finally, the child’s temperament and the father’s anti-social behaviors directly effect delinquency issues, while aggressiveness issues are directly effected by the child’s disposition and marital conflicts and are only indirectly effected by the father’s anti-social behaviors as well as the mother’s characteristics via said marital conflicts. These findings show that children’s behavioral problems are caused not only by the child’s individual temperament, but also by the parents’negative sentiments and behaviors, negative marriage relationships and a lack of nurturing behaviors. Thus, in order to prevent and treat behavioral problems, there is a need to understand the nature of a child’s temperament in conjunction with the psychological features of the familial environment.
