유치원 교사가 경험한 윤리적 딜레마 분석

본 연구는 유치원 교사들이 현장에서 경험한 윤리적 딜레마를 조사하여 이에 내포된 상호작용 관계 및 덕목을 분석해 보기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구의 참여자는 2008년 4월부터 6월까지 설문조사에 응한 총 50명의 현직 유치원 교사들이다. 본 연구에서 사용된 설문지는 NAEYC의 유아교사를 위한 윤리강령과 행동선언문(2005년 개정)의 내용영역을 토대로 연구자 간의 협의를 통해 수정․보완하여 구성한 것이다. 설문응답 자료에 대한 질적 분석을 실시한 결과, 유치원 교사들의 윤리적 딜레마에 내포된 덕목들에는 공정성, 존중, 진실성, 조화, 성실, 관용, 순응, 용기, 인내, 체념 등이 있었으며, 각 상호작용 관계에 따라 공통적으로 대표할 만한 덕목들이 나타났다. 즉, 유아와의 관계에서는 공정성과 존중, 가정과의 관계에서는 진실성과 조화, 동료 및 기관과의 관계에서는 순응과 용기, 지역사회와의 관계에서는 성실과 인내의 덕목들을 찾아볼 수 있었다. 결론적으로 유치원 교사들이 경험한 다양한 딜레마에 대한 토의를 바탕으로, 윤리적 딜레마 해결의 가치기준을 정립해 나가도록 돕는 교직윤리교육이 실행되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study seeks to analyze the interactive relationships and virtues involved in ethical dilemmas which kindergarten teachers experienced in the field of education. The participants were 50 kindergarten teachers who responded to the study's questionnaire from April to June in 2008. This questionnaire constructed by the researchers is based on the NAEYC (2005)'s revised code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment. Analysis of the questionnaire yields the following: the ethical virtues involved in ethical dilemmas of kindergarten teachers were justice, respect, truthfulness, harmony, integrity, generosity, adaptation, bravery, patience, resignation and other such related issues. These representative virtues emerged according to the interactive relationships involved in ethical dilemmas. For example, justice and respect were demonstrated in teachers' relationships with children, truthfulness and harmony in teachers' relationships with children's families, adaptation and bravery were called upon in relationships with colleagues, and integrity and patience were manifested in teachers' relationships with communities. In conclusion, an ethics education which aims to build a value's criterion to guide the solution of ethical dilemmas should fulfill through discussions centering around the various dilemmas encountered daily by kindergarten teachers.
