본 연구의 목적은 만 1세반 신학기 초기 적응과정에 대한 교사의 경험과 의미, 그리고 어려움과 전략을 근거이론적 접근을 사용하여 총체적으로 살펴보는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 서울·경기 소재의 어린이집에서 현재 만 1세반 담임을 맡고 있는 9명의 교사들이며, 자료는 심층면담을 통해 수집되었다. 자료를 분석한 결과, ‘영아와의 관계’, ‘동료교사와의 관계’, ‘부모와의 관계’에서 오는 어려움이 중심현상으로 도출되었다. 인과적 조건은 ‘교사가 바라본 초기 적응과정의 의미’와 ‘만 1세 영아의 특성’이며, 맥락적 조건으로는 ‘서로 다른 어린이집의 운영방침,’ ‘영아의 다양한 배경,’ ‘교사의 인식’이, 중재적 조건으로는 ‘교사의 배경’과 ‘어린이집과 부모의 지원’이 도출되었다. 상호작용 전략은 영아, 교사, 부모를 위한 전략으로 나타났으며, 결과로는 ‘탈출하고 싶은 마음,’ ‘만족하며 머무름,’ ‘경험의 재구성 및 효과적인 적응을 위한 인식 변화’로 도출되었다. 이를 모두 연결하여 ‘교사, 영아, 부모가 함께 하는 만 1세 신학기 초기 적응과정’으로 핵심범주를 결정하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 영아에게만 초점을 두는 적응이 아니라 적응과정에 참여하는 교사, 영아, 부모를 포괄적으로 지원할 수 있는 프로그램 개발이 이루어져야 함을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study examines childcare center teachers' experiences, perceptions, difficulties, and strategies in 1-year-old classes during the new semester as they make efforts to help infants' adjustment. A total of 9 teachers in classes for 1-year-old infants were interviewed. The data were analyzed following the procedures of the grounded theory approach. Difficulties stemming from ‘relationships with infants,’ ‘relationships with colleague teachers,’ and ‘relationships with parents’ were considered as the major phenomena. Causal conditions for the phenomena were ‘meanings about new semester adjustment assigned by teachers’ and ‘characteristics of 1-year-old infants.’ Contextual conditions included ‘diverse policies about new semester adjustment’, ‘diverse backgrounds of infants’, and ‘diverse perceptions of teachers’. In addition, mediative conditions involved ‘backgrounds of teachers’, and ‘support from childcare centers and parents’. To overcome the difficulties experienced by teachers during the new semester, teachers used various interaction strategies for infants, teachers themselves, and parents. As a result, most of the teachers found out ways to reconstruct their experiences and make effective adjustment. Finally, ‘collaborations among teachers, infants, and parents in the process of new semester adjustment’ was found as a core category. The results of this study show the need to develop programs that support teachers, infants, and parents who participate in the new semester adjustment.
