유아의 사회적 유능성 군집분석에 따른 언어·수학능력 차이분석

A study on a children’s language ability and math ability via children’s social competence cluster analysis

초록

본 연구는 유아의 사회적 유능성에 따라 유아의 언어·수학능력은 차이를 보이는지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소(KICCE)가 공개한 한국아동패널 7차년도(2014)자료를 사용하였다. 유아의 사회적 유능성, 유아의 언어능력, 유아의 수학능력 검사도구의 신뢰도를 알아보았다. 본격적인 검증 전에 본 연구의 독립변인에 해당하는 유아의 사회적 유능성 자료가 가지고 있는 특징에 따라 집단을 나누는 군집분석을 실행하였다. 군집분석 결과 구분된 유아의 사회적 유능성 집단에 따라 유아의 언어·수학능력은 차이를 나타내는지 알아보기 위해 일원분산분석(One-way ANOVA)하였다. 차이를 검증하는 모형의 적합도는 F값을 통해 밝혔다. 집단 간 나타난 유아의 언어·수학능력의 차이의 구체적인 정도를 확인하기 위해 Scheffe값을 확인하여 사후검증하였다. 연구결과, 유아의 사회적 유능성에 따라 유아의 언어·수학능력은 차이를 보이고 있었다. 유아의 사회적 유능성 상위와 중위집단의 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기의 언어능력은 하위집단 유아의 언어능력보다 높은 점수를 보이고 있었다. 수학능력에서 수·연산은 사회적 유능성 상위, 중위, 하위순서로 높은 점수를 나타내고 있었다. 수학능력 중 측정, 규칙성에서는 사회적 유능성 상위집단이 하위집단보다 높았다. 이를 통해 유아의 사회적 유능성이 원만하면 유아의 언어·수학능력 발달에 긍정적 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate whether children’s language ability (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and math ability (numbers· calculations, spaces·shapes, measurement, regularity, data collection) differ according to their social competence in using cluster analysis. For this purpose, 7th panel data (2014) on Korean children, which was released by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education, was used. The reliability of assessment tools measuring children’s social competence, language ability, and math ability was examined. Before applying for verification, cluster analysis was performed to divide the groups according to the characteristics of children’s social competence, which were independent variables of this study. After that, one-way ANOVA was conducted to see if children’s language and math ability showed differences according to their social competence. The goodness of fit of the model to verify the difference was found through the F value. In order to confirm the differences in children’s language and math skills among the groups, the Scheffe value was examined with post-hoc tests. As a result, children’s language and match ability showed differences according to their social competence. Those groups with high levels of social competence and middle levels of language ability (listening, speaking, reading, writing) showed higher scores than those with lower level of language ability. Additionally, children’s math ability (numbers and calculation) were high in the order of high, middle, and low social competence. The upper group of social competence was higher than the lower group in measurement and regularity among math ability. Therefore, children’s social competence was found to have a positive effect on the development of children’s language and math skills.
