비밀 장소에서 나타난 유아들의 우정 관계

본 연구는 유아들이 비밀 장소에서 맺어나가는 우정 관계를 탐색하여 그 속에 투영된 유아들의 관계적 특성과 본질을 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 충남 아산시의 즐거운 어린이집과 행복한 유 치원을 연구 현장으로 섭외하였으며, 각 기관의 만 5세 학급인 도담반과 한들반 교사 및 유아들을 참여자로 선정하였다. 2022년 5월 31일부터 8월 28일까지 참여 관찰과 비형식적 면담자료, 연구 자 일지, 기타 문서 자료를 수집한 후, 질적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과, 비밀 장소에서 유아들 은 공유 행위를 통해 내적 및 외적 동질감을 형성함으로써 우정 관계를 심화시켜 나가는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 유아들은 우정 관계 속에서 갈등을 경험하기도 하였는데, 이때 유아들은 비밀 장 소 내 우정 관계를 유지하기 위해 갈등에 대한 적극적인 해결자로서 진취적인 태도를 보였다. 즉, 비밀 장소는 유아들이 관계의 주체가 되어 관계를 주도적으로 이끌어갈 수 있는 환경으로서, 이 안에서 유아들은 그들의 삶에서 진정한 우정 관계를 체감해나가고 있었다. 이 같은 연구결과는 유 아교육현장에서 유아들의 비밀 장소는 그들의 삶과 교육이 공존하는 공간으로 재인식하고, 그 속 에 유아들의 우정 관계를 존중하는 태도가 필요함을 시사한다.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand the relational characteristics and nature of young children’s friendships by exploring the friendship relationships developed and projected in children’s secret places. As research sites, Joyful Daycare Center and Happy Kindergarten in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do were selected. The participants were teachers and 5-year-old young children from Dodam and Handle classes in each institution. Participatory observations, informal interviews, researcher's journals, and other documentary data were collected between May 31 and August 28, 2022, and analyzed qualitatively. The main findings were as follows. First, young children deepened their friendships by building internal and external identification through sharing behaviors. On the other hand, young children also experienced conflicts in their friendships, and in order to maintain their friendships, young children were found to behave proactively in resolving conflicts. In other words, young children's secret places are environments where young children can take the lead in relationships, and experience authentic friendships in their lives. These findings suggest that early childhood educators should positively recognize children's secret places as a part of their life and educational space, and respect their friendship relationships.
