본 연구는 유아교사의 삶을 통해 유아교사가 전문가로 살아감의 의미를 탐색하고 고찰하는 데목적이 있다. 본 연구는 한 공립유치원 교사의 생애담을 바탕으로 의미를 도출하는 생애사 연구로, 교직경력 36년의 박 교사를 유목적 표집법으로 표집하여 2023년 4월부터 10월까지 구술생애담 면담을 진행하였다. 이외에도 주변 사람 면담 전사자료, 생애곡선, 주제중심 저널 등 문서자료, 인사기록카드, 연구보고서 등 기타자료를 수집하였고, 연구자, 연구자의 동료, 연구 참여자 본인등 3차의 검토과정을 거쳐 전사와 범주 및 재범주화 과정을 반복하면서 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 전문가로 살아가는 유아교사는 자신의 양성과정 및 교직수행 과정에서 만나는 수많은 상황과의얽힘과 부딪침 속에서 지속적으로 성찰하면서, 한 인간으로서 삶의 의미를 발견하고 추구하며 삶을 온전히 구성해 간다. 이때, 교사는 교육현장에서 자신과 직업, 자신이 속한 사회 및 시대 등 여러 차원과의 긍정적인 관계 맺기를 통해 자기를 더 잘 이해하게 되고, 이는 교사의 자기실현을 도모함으로써 교사가 좀 더 통합된 형태로 전문적 자질을 발휘할 수 있도록 돕는다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore an early childhood teacher’s life as professional and to derive its meaning. This study is based on the life history research that focused on a public kindergarten teacher, Teacher Park. The participant of this study, Teacher Park, has 36 years of teaching experience. Data were conducted oral life history interviews from April to October 2023. In addition, documentary data such as a transcript of interviewing person around her, a life history line and topic-oriented journals written by Teacher Park. And other data were collected such as personnel record cards, and research reports and so on. The analysis was conducted through three rounds of review by the researcher, the researcher’s colleagues, and the participant herself. This process consists of review data, categorization, and recategorization. The results were as follows. Early childhood teachers who live as professionals continuously reflect on the situations of their training and teaching process. Through entanglements and collisions, they discover and pursue the meaning of life as a human being and fully construct their lives. Consequently, teachers understand themselves better through positive relationship with various dimensions such as themselves, their job, the society and era they belong to in the educational field, and this process helps them to demonstrate their professional qualities in a more integrated form by promoting self-realization.
