본 연구에서는 국내 제조기업들이 본국에서 축적한 기술 및 경영 노하우를 해외사업조직에 성공적으로 이전시키는데 영향을 미치는 조직적 요인들을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 본사-해외자회사 간의 효율적인 커뮤니케이션과 높은 신뢰 수준, 해외자회사에게 부여된 경영자율성, 모회사의 체계화되고 전문화된 해외사업관리 활동 등과 같은 조직적 요인들이 노하우의 해외 이전에 긍정적 영향을 미친다는 것을 보여준다. 이러한 결과는 본-자회사간 노하우를 효율적으로 이전시킬 수 있는 다국적 기업의 조직능력이 여러 가지 다면적인 요인들에 의하여 결정된다는 것을 시사한다.
Abstract
With the sample of Korean manufacturing firms, we examine what firm-specific factors may determine the probability that their technical and managerial know-how will successfully be transferred to their overseas operations. Our results indicate that successful transfer is facilitated by several organizational factors, such as efficient communication and high trust between the HQ and subsidiary, subsidiary autonomy, the HQ's establishment of the advanced systems for supervising overseas business activities and training international experts. These findings suggest that a firm's ability to transfer its knowhow across the borders is determined by multiple organizational factors.
