범죄피해 위협과 보호행동을 예측하는 요인들의 성차

본 연구는 범죄피해에 대한 두려움, 위험지각, 보호행동 간의 관계를 성차의시각에서 바라보면서 공신력 있는 한국의 2차 자료인 한국형사정책연구원의‘한국의 범죄피해에 대한 조사, 5차’에서 수집된 자료를 분석하였다. 범죄피해에 대한 두려움, 위험지각, 보호행동에 있어서 남성 집단과 여성 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 발견되었다. 즉 여성 집단이 상대적으로 높은 수준을 나타내었다. 그리고범죄피해에 대한 두려움, 위험지각, 그리고 보호행동을 예측하는 인구통계학적변인들, 커뮤니케이션 변인, 사회 환경적 변인들, 기타 이론적 변인들 등의 영향력을 탐색함에 있어서 데이터를 성별 집단별로 비교분석했을 때 유사한 측면 외에도 유의미한 차이들이 발견되었다. 이를 토대로 본 연구의 이론적, 실천적 함의를 제시하고 향후 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

Abstract

From the risk communication perspective, excessive fear of crime, risk perceptions (perceived vulnerability and perceived severity), and protective behaviors in society can be harmful to individuals and bring serious social problems. Analyzing data from ‘Criminal Victimization in Korea, 5,’ the author found that gender differences do exist in the components of the threat of victimizations and protective behaviors. For each of the components, female scored significantly higher than males. The author estimated a series of multiple regression models, including the relationship between fear of criminal victimization, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, avoidance behaviors, and defensive behaviors separately for males and females. The results suggested that the predictors differ for males and females. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings were discussed especially in the gender difference perspective.
