성별에 따른 범죄에 대한 인식이 범죄 두려움에 미치는 영향 연구

초록

이 연구에서는 일반 대중들이 평소에 느끼고 있는 범죄에 대한 인식을 조사하고, 이러한 인식이 범죄 두려움에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 일련의 조사연구를 실시하였다. 여기서는 범죄에 대한 인식을 하나의 인지 차원에서 하위변인 즉, 범죄발생빈도 추정과 범죄사건에 대한 관심 정도, 범죄방어능력 평가, 그리고 범죄피해위험의 지각으로 구성하였다. 그 결과 동네범죄발생빈도 추정을 제외한 모든 변인이 유의미한 영향력을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었고, 그 중에서도 범죄피해위험의 지각이 가장 강한 영향력을 미치고 있었다. 또한 표본 집단을 성별로 나누어 범죄에 대한 인식 및 두려움의 차이가 있는지, 두려움의 영향요인에도 차이가 나는지를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 범죄 두려움에 있어 남녀의 차이는 모든 유형의 범죄에서 차이가 있었고 여성의 두려움이 남성보다 모든 유형 범죄에 대해서 높게 나타났다. 성별에 따른 회귀분석 결과를 비교해본 결과 범죄에 대한 인식이 여성(〓 .20) 보다는 남성(〓 .38)에게 더 유용한 변인이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 남성은 범죄사건에 대한 실질적인 관심보다는 자신의 실질적인 범죄방어능력(혹은 취약성)이 두려움에 더 실질적인 영향을 미치고 있었고, 여성은 범죄사건에 대한 민감도가 더 큰 영향을 미치고 있었다는 것을 의미한다. 이렇게 볼 때 여성은 범죄에 대한 취약성 인식이 두려움에 영향을 미친다는 취약성 가설이 별 유용한 설명이 되지 못하고, 신체적인 부분보다는 인지적ㆍ심리적 차원에서의 접근이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

Abstract

In this research were investigated of the perception of crime and its affection on fear of crime. The perception of crime were composed of subordinate variable, precisely the estimation of the frequency of the crime incident, its level of interest, the evaluation of the crime defense ability and the awareness of the risk of crime damage. Thus, except the crime frequency in town, all variables played a role, especially the most was the perceived risk of crime. Also, a sample group were divided into gender, to investigate the difference of the perception and fear of crime, and the influencing factor of fear. As a result, the level of the difference of the fear of crime of men and women appeared in every type of crimes, and women showed a higher level of fear of crime. The result of the regression analysis shows that fear of crime of men (R² = .38) in comparison with women (R² = .20) could be a more useful variable. Men showed less actual interest in crime incident than that of the actual crime defense ability which was influencing fear of crime, whereas women were more sensitively influenced of crime incidents. In conclusion, the frail hypothesis that women’s lack of perception of fear of crime is an influencing factor of fear of crime, is not useful and a perceived psychologically dimensionalized approach is more necessary than physical approach.
