방정환의 번역작품 연구 - 「귀먹은 집오리」와 「불노리」를 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study examines original scripts and comparatively analyzed the sentences in the translated scripts of two literary works translated by Bang Jung-Hwan, Deaf duck and Fireworks. Both literary works were originally published in Kinnohune, children's literary magazine, under the genre category of 'children's story(童話)'. Deaf duck is an allegory with good story setting, and Fireworks is boyhood novel with a realistic description of a boy's sorrow. In the 1920s, the Japanese children's literary magazine were published to provide artistic children's stories and children's songs. Bang Jeong-Hwan, who observed 'the golden age of the children's literary magazines' in Japan, is assumed to take consideration of those magazines upon his establishment of Eorini. Among the Japanese magazines, it is clear to see a connection between Kinnohune and Eorini. From its publication fo the first issue, Kinnohune promoted itself to be 'the magazine for children', focusing on 'the educational qualities from naturally learnt lesson's while pursuing artistry at the same time. Bang Jeong-Hwan, deeply inspired by the editorial philosophy of Kinnohune, translated the works from the magazine. Although the term and the concept of the '童話' came from Japan, there was no distinctive feature in the concept of the 'children's story' Japan, in the 1920s, that distinguished it from 'Otogibanasi' the folk tales. Bang Jeong-Hwan translated and introduced Dowa「聾の家鴨」as Dong hwa Deaf duck, and Dowa Hanabi into boyhood novel(少年哀話) Fireworks. Through the different categorized of literary works by the length, contents, and structure of a story that were originally categorized under the widely comprehended genre of 'children's story'. It seems to be an intention to re-contextualize the genre by the classified level of stories to provide literary amusement to various targets of the readers.
