Abstract

As for the life and literary activities of the Ilbo Ham Dae-hoon, his pro-Japanese activities have been revealed little by little recently, but no specific information has been released on his post-liberation activities.In this article, he reconstructed his activities during the Liberation Period by analyzing the writings contained in No. 14 of 『The Democratic Police』, which was published as a special feature for remembrance immediately after Ham Dae-hoon's death, and published the longest series of 『Bangpaje』 through 『Jogwang』 from December 1938 to November 1939, but changed the title to 『The Season of Hope』 in 1948.The reason why Ham Dae-hoon served as a senior official of the U.S. military government and the Ministry of Security since the liberation of Korea is reasonable to assume that he turned anti-communist, considering the bloody incident between the Democratic Party of Korea and the Communist Party in Haeju, where he lived. As a result, patriotism was great, and he took the lead in reforming the police force only after he took office as director of the Public Security Bureau of the U.S. military government.In addition, 『Bangpaje』, which was published 12 times in 『Jogwang』 was the longest-running feature novel published in 1948. The title was changed to 『The Season of Hope』. However, the series of 『Jogwang』 was compiled into 12 chapters, and the contents are the same. However, unlike the contents of the epigraph, this work was first published in 『Kwangup Joseon』before it was published in 『Jogwang』. Therefore, Ham Dae-hoon's activities during the U.S. military period were based on 『The Democratic Police』, which inherited the magazine culture that began with Japanese colonial era, so there may be disadvantages that cannot be denied the official character. 『The Season of Hope』may not be just a simple release. Nevertheless, it is hoped that this will shed light on Ham Dae-hoon and his works and rewrite the history of Korean literature.
