근대 문헌 자료로서의 잡지 정리의 문제점

이 글은 한국의 잡지를 정리하는 방안을 제시해 본 것이다. 필자는 그 방안의 시작으로목록 정리의 방법을 제시했다. 지금까지 한국의 잡지 목록 정리 작업은 계량화를 염두에두지 않고 진행되어왔다. 그 결과 근대 문헌으로서의 잡지를 수집, 정리하는 데에 있어모집단(母集團)을 제시할 수 없었다. 그리고 한국의 잡지 총량 파악이 불가능하여 잡지사(雜誌史) 서술에 지장을 초래하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 충실한 계량화 작업은 반드시 필요하다. 한국의 잡지 계량화를 위한 첫째 작업은 상세한 목차 정리에서부터 시작된다. 목록의 자세하고 정확한 내용이 기록되고 정리되어야 개별 잡지사(雜誌史)가 가능하고, 개별 잡지사들을 모으고 엮어야 ‘한국 잡지사’가 완성될 수 있다. 우리에게는 아직도 ‘잡지학회’도 없고 ‘잡지 사전’도 없으며, 1970년대부터 1990년대의발굴, 정리, 연구 결과가 수용된 ‘잡지사(雜誌史)’도 없다. 이처럼 많은 과제들이 잡지의계량화 작업만으로 모두 해결되지 않는다. 그러나 이 글에서 제안한 작업은 잡지의 수집정리에 있어서 길잡이가 되어줄 것이 틀림없으며, 정리된 잡지들을 분류하고 체계화하는 데에도 주춧돌이 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study is to suggest a method to fi le Korean magazines. First of all, a way of cataloguing is presented. Cataloguing of Korean magazines has been practiced with no consideration of quantifi cation. As a result, it has been unable to present the population in collecting and arranging magazines as modern literature materials. In addition, it has been unable to grasp the total volume of magazines in Korea so far, causing troubles in relating the history of magazine publication. In order to address this problem, thorough quantifi cation is essential. The primary work to be implemented for quantifi cation of Korean magazines is to make the detailed list of magazines. Unless there is a well-arranged detailed list with specifi c contents, it is unable to relate the history of individual magazines, and without the data of each magazine’s history, it is unable to complete the ‘history of Korean magazines.’ There is neither any institute of magazines nor a magazine dictionary in Korea. There is no history of magazines based on collected and accumulated research fi ndings in the 1970s and 1980s. There needs to be more than magazine quantification in order to address such various issues. However, it is certain that the suggestion of this study will be a guide for collection and arrangement of magazines. Th is study will be a corner stone for classifi cation and systematization of categorized magazines.
