옛 경춘선 폐역의 레트로 인문도시

이 글은 옛 경춘선(京春線)의 폐역(廢驛)을 대상으로, 일반 대중들이 지닌 낭만과 추억을소환하고, 이를 한국을 대표하는 핵심 지역문화 콘텐츠로 발전시키며, 최종에는 인문학개념을 적용한 레트로(Retro) 인문학을 기반으로 한 인문도시 구축의 가능성을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 2010년 12월에 경춘선 복선(複線) 전철화 사업은 해당 지역민들과 일반인들에게 많은생활의 편리함을 가져다주었다. 그러나 반대 급부로 그동안 경춘선이 구축했던 7080세대의 낭만과 추억, 한국 대표 대중문화/대중문화콘텐츠로서의 가치는 줄어들었으며, 현(現) 세대와 과거 세대의 추억과 경험의 공감(共感)이 단절되는 결과를 가져왔다. 현재 옛 경춘선이 지녔던 다양한 유무형의 문화자산을 복원하기 위하여, 경기도 가평과강원도 춘천시는 여러 사업을 진행하고 있다. 그러나 사업은 주로 옛 경춘선 철길과 주변지역의 테마 관광지 사업, 폐선의 레일바이크와 같은 체험활동, 주변의 생활 건축 리모델링 사업에 집중하고 있다. 이처럼 옛 경춘선을 기념하기 위한 시도 이외에 주목할 것은 한국의 대중문화 분야에서의 복고(復古) 열풍이다. 옛 경춘선이 주는 내면의 기억과 추억이 소환되면서 옛 경춘선의 가치와 의미가 재조명을 받고 있다. 이 글에서 이런 현재 상황을 고려하여 경춘선 복선화 사업으로 인하여 사라질 위기에 처한 경춘선이 지닌 추억·낭만, 경춘선이 지녔던 장소성의 본질을 회복하고, 생활문화유산으로서 경춘선이 지닌 추억·낭만·생활문화사 등을 복원시킬 가능성, 그리고 인문학적 자산으로 환원할 수 있는 가능성을 살펴보았다.
Abstract
This article aims to summon the romance and memories of the general public, develop them into core local cultural contents representing Korea, and fi nally examine the possibility of establishing a humanities city based on retro humanities applying the concept of humanities. In December 2010, the Gyeongchun Line double-track electrification project brought a lot of convenience to the local people and the general public. However, as a counter benefit, the romance and memories of the 70s and 80s built by Gyeongchunseon, and the value as a representative popular culture/popular cultural content in Korea decreased, resulting in a disconnection of memories and experiences between the current and past generations. Currently, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, and Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, are carrying out various projects to restore various tangible and intangible cultural assets held by the former Gyeongchun Line. However, the project is mainly focused on the old Gyeongchun Line railroad tracks and theme tourist attractions projects in the surrounding area, hands-on activities such as rail bikes on abandoned ships, and remodeling projects of living buildings in the vicinity. In addition to attempts to commemorate the old Gyeongchunseon, what is noteworthy is the retro craze in the fi eld of popular culture in Korea. As the inner memories and memories of the old Gyeongchunseon are summoned, the value and meaning of the old Gyeongchunseon are being re-examined. Considering this current situation, we looked at the possibility of restoring the memories and romance of Gyeongchunseon, the nature of Gyeongchunseon’s place, and the possibility of restoring Gyeongchunseon’s memories, romance, and life and cultural history as living cultural heritages.
